Step off the street and enter Washeteria. An unused neighborhood storefront. A fantastical Laundromat. A rehearsal space. A theater. Here 25-minute theatrical “episodes” are created by an extraordinary group of playwrights, composers, designers, musicians, actors, and choreographers and spun together for an all-age audience to experience, re-mix and revisit again and again.

A pile of clothes and a row of machines.  Rolling carts and lots of socks.  Washeteria will create a gathering place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where everyone is welcome to walk over and drop in.

We all wear our clothes, wash our clothes, and wear them again. Washeteria is everyone. Washeteria is a plaid shirt, a tu-tu, a missing sock, old pants, a uniform, tumbled and folded together like the people who make up an urban community.

Created by Louisa Thompson, Sarah Benson, and Adrienne Kapstein, Washeteria invites 15+ theater artists, the students of Brooklyn Arbor PS414, neighbors in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and all-age audiences to experience new theatrical work together in a new way.
